Would anyone be interested in setting a book club up in the clapham junction area? If so I might have a word with Waterstones or the library and see if something could be organised with them.
I will be away on the 23rd of January very unfortunately but please keep me informed of when the next one will be and also the next book. I think I may have a look at the book 'the Meeting' anyway - it sounds intriguing. I really enjoyed the meeting last night too - thankyou Eliie. Happy Xmas and New Year to everyone.
I thought Monday night was fun and interesting. Looking forward to seeing you all again in the New Year to discuss the next book. Lots of copies in local libraries by the way.
Got any paperbacks you wouldn't mind swapping for books you do want? Why not join www.greenmetropolis.com
We are due to meeet this Monday 23rd January at the Battersea Music and Mess Hall in Lavender Gardens. For those who do not know exactly where it is it is at the Lavender Hill end of Lavender Gardens opposite the Magistrates Court (which is on the same side of the road as Asda!). If you turn into Lavender Gardens from Lavender Hill it is just a few yards up on the right hand side.
Pls can you let me know if you are coming by Fri 20th so that I can book us a table.
Hi again. I have reserved us a table for 7.15 on Monday. There is no kitchen on a Monday but they are happy if you being in food from the fish and chips nearby and will supply a plate! Presume this applies to any takeaway. See you all then.
sorry all but work has got in the way again so won't make tonight. enjoyed reading the book so hope you have a good discussion tonight and hopefully see you next time!
for anyone who missed last night, the next book we decided on is the Great Gatsby (apologies...I've never read it...) at the same place at the Battersea Music and Mess Hall in Lavender Gardens on Monday 27th February.
Happy reading!
There is a bundle of 3 books by Fitzgerald for £4.99 plus £1.95 postage if anyone is interested :)
Hi just wanted to say that I really enjoyed the meet on Monday. I think this is a great group of people with really lovely qualities. Looking forward to more discussions. By the way I have noticed very few people have a photo on their profile. Is there any particular reason why not? Karen
It was an enjoyable evening and the discussion almost made me want to read the book again to appreciate the aspects I missed. I don't have any special reason for not using a photo of me - it's probably because I don't have one to hand! Maybe I should change my avatar to the book we're reading.
I too thoroughly enjoyed the evening and the discussions and am very much looking forward to meeting up with everyone again at the next meeting and hearing all your views on The Great Gatsby. The reason I don't have a photo of me on my profile is that all the recent photos that I have are pretty awful. That's why I prefer to use one of the photos I took of a drink I had on holiday a few years ago which I thought looked very pretty!
I'm sure you look fine but if you're bothered by it I'm sure you know someone (there's bound to be someone on Streetlife!) who can make your photo look beautiful!!
I know we haven't even met for the next book but I have a really good book to suggest for our next meeting. The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak. Have any of you read it already?

Joanie - that's why photoshop was invented!! :)

I don't have a pic because I'm shy!

Have read The Book Thief and it is brilliant. Wouldn't mind discussing it.
I've not read it so I'm up for any suggestions. I have a few books at home, in an unread pile, so I think it's time for a beach holiday...
OH NO! I've had to move the date for my trip back a week which now means I'll be away on the 27th.
I can now do the 20th February but I don't want to mess everyone around (and it's a week less to finish the book).
