Garden shredder

I've just spent the day trimming the hedge in the garden and now have a garden full of twigs and leaves which I need to pack and take to the dump. Does anyone have a garden shredder they'd be willing to lend/rent me for a day (next weekend)? The biggest stick is 40mm diameter (1 1/2 inches in old money) I live Northcote/Broomwood Roads way (SW11) and happy to collect.

I have one you can borrow (or make a small donation to my favourite Wandsworth based national charity, the Backup Trust www.backuptrust.org.uk).  It's quite old, but works well; I used it in anger last weekend.  Just off East Hill, Wandsworth.

I will pm contact details.

Hi Geoff. Thanks! I'll give you a later in the week.

Wandsworth Council

Wandsworth Council provides discounts and negotiates reduced prices for residents on composters, food waste disposers and shredders

The council also has a £5,000 annual Eco Fund which it distributes in stages throughout the year. The Eco Fund aims to support community projects which improve the local environment. A shared shredder scheme would make an ideal application.

Wandsworth Council: I was going to buy one of the shredders in the link, but they only have a 3meter cord! Not long enough even for a modest SW garden ...

You could add the 5m extension cord that all households should have for such eventualities....

Thought about that but found one (there is a special offer in the Evening Standard Homes and Property section) that is the same price but with an 8 meter cord. Just makes it slightly less of a hassle and my extension cord is hard to wind up.
