New shop in Balham opposite Sainsburys Hi, does anyone know what the new shop opposite Sainsburys on Balham High Street is going to be? Thanks for any info Tweet Comments Showing 1 - 25 of 26 Pages: 1 2 Next » LaRubiaPeligrosa 1 year, 1 month ago Somebody mentioned to me a while ago that it is going to be a TK Maxx ianfreeman 1 year, 1 month ago The landlord claims he has a 'well-known national retailer' on board. I think it's unlikely to be TK Maxx, given that they have so many stores nearby. See this thread http://www.streetlife.com/4f2bbdbda3c6734a8c00003d/?r Rita 1 year, 1 month ago Heard that Boots is taking the shop over and that Sainsburys is extending into the present boots. True? False? I don't honestly know. Gems 1 year, 1 month ago Ive heard from someone who works in tk maxx that it is indeed going to be TK maxx! fionapm 1 year, 1 month ago NappyValleyNet also say it's going to be a TK Maxx - one of the builders told one of the posters. http://www.nappyvalleynet.com/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=18547 ianfreeman 1 year, 1 month ago Ah, OK then. Seems odd though, given the number of other stores they have nearby. But as they're such a successful business they must know what they're doing! Penny H 1 year, 1 month ago There is a TKM in Tooting, would seem strange to have one in Balham. The one in Clapham Junction is brilliant. All will be revealed! Tracey R 1 year, 1 month ago Just saw this thread on NappyValley.net this morning - seems like it will be a TKMaxx...http://www.nappyvalleynet.com/tk-maxx-in-balham-t18547.html - and a near miss with what appears to be the scaffolding there!! http://www.nappyvalleynet.com/scaffolding-collapse-on-balham-high-road-picture-t18706.html I'm with The Simple Web Company Penny H 1 year, 1 month ago Oh dear, bad enough having one at CJunction! Far too near! fionapm 1 year, 1 month ago It does seem a bit nuts - one at CJ, one in Southside shopping centre in Wandsworth, one in Brixton. You'd think there wouldn't be demand for any more TK Maxxes. My concern is that Balham High Street is very hit and miss, and between Poundland, the 4 charity shops, the amusement arcade and now TK Maxx it won't be good for property prices. More independent retailers like Chadwicks, Twist etc would be much better. Or even a good quality chain. ianfreeman 1 year, 1 month ago TK Maxx are in Tooting, Clapham Junction, Wandsworth Southside Centre, Brixton and Colliers Wood! Why on earth they'd want to come to Balham is beyond me. Penny H 1 year, 1 month ago I agree, too many charity shops in Balham, or cheaper end shops. I've lived here for years, and Balham has never gone up with their shops, restaurants and bars are better. The Oxfam book shop is good though! Anyone love their fruit? go to the West Indian/African shop along the Hildreth street, opposite Negril takeaway. They do huge papayas for £3.50. Also mango's are cheaper. I would never have gone in there, but was recommended by the chinese lady in the Chinese shop. mungomuffit 1 year, 1 month ago I agree, I feel a bit TK Maxxed out with so many already in the area. Can't see myself shopping in there that much ... but then I said that about the 99p shop when it first opened and I'm in there all the time ...At least it's not a fried chicken shop or a bookies or, worse, another real estate agency.Amazing picture of that scaffolding falling down Tracey!! Good thing it didn't happen during the day. ianfreeman 1 year, 1 month ago @Tracey R. One of my neighbours, a DJ, was driving past when it happened! She's a 'she' despite what the article says! http://www.yourlocalguardian.co.uk/news/local/topstories/9647873.DJ_escaped_death_following_scaffold_collapse/ mungomuffit 1 year, 1 month ago Idiot scaffolders, failed what must be the first rule of scaffolding - RULE 1. make sure the scaffold is secured to a stable surface so that it doesn't fall down.I hope they get in big trouble for that. James H 1 year, 1 month ago Thanks to all for your info. James Katie-sue 1 year, 1 month ago It's a shame that m&s went. I was hoping they would re-open whe they realised that Balham was up and coming! It's a great shame to have another large boring chain. It''s the homogenisation of the high street. I'm hoping hildreth street will fare better - milk is a lovely cafe . . . . MrsAmanda 1 year, 1 month ago It's a shame to have another large boring chain ... I was hoping M&S would reopen. They're not a large, boring chain? fionapm 1 year, 1 month ago Milk is lovely. There's an empty slot now on Hildreth Street Market as well - hopefully something good will open in there, like Balham Bou or the wine shop. mungomuffit 1 year, 1 month ago I haven't been in the wine shop yet - any good? fionapm 1 year, 1 month ago Yes it is. The staff are lovely, really helpful, and they have a great selection. They do regular tasting evenings as well. I used to go up to Nicolas at Clapham South when I wasn't buying from Watirose but now I just go to Hildreth Street Market. Susie R 1 year, 1 month ago My friend who works in Bertie & Boo had heard it was going to be an Iceland...think i'd rather have a TKMaxx! ianfreeman 1 year, 1 month ago I very much doubt that consent would be granted for another food retailer. But stranger things have happened! mungomuffit 1 year, 1 month ago Thanks Fiona, I'll try it out. I usually get my grog from Waitrose or Sainsburys or Theobalds on Ritherdon Road if I want something a bit special. MrsAmanda 1 year, 1 month ago If I remember rightly, wasn't the As Nature Intended site an Iceland before ANI? Hopefully they won't be back. Comments are closed. Why not start a new conversation?
