Best of British Concert - Elgar, Lloyd & Smyth

Elgar, Lloyd & Smyth

A (sadly) rare opportunity to hear one of the late George Lloyd's 12 symphonies. His sixth symphony is concise, tuneful, fun and moving in turns. The poignant second movement was played at his funeral. Coupled with another rarity, music from the opera 'The Wreckers' by suffragette Ethel Smyth, and a wonderful (not so rare!) concerto by a certain Mr.Elgar. British music at its best!
