Freelancers group

Hi,
I wondered if anyone was interested in forming a support group for freelancers. I've been working freelance for 3 years and often appreciate feedback from colleagues, especially during long periods spent working from home.
I know there are already business networking groups out there but I was thinking about something very practical. eg: help me with this estimate / proposal please ??!!
Other ideas:

  • Writing bids / proposals
  • How to deal with Agents
  • How to bid against companies
  • How to do marketing
  • Breaking into new markets (share our experiences)
  • General review of work / feedback
  • Share Ideas to generate new work
  • Collaborate on projects
  • Ideas for making remote working succeed
  • Where to find new work

I could go on...

Let me know if you are interested, or if you think there is something already out there...

My attendance today is looking very 'iffy' as I've still got a few hours to go at the screen and it's 02.00. Might make it towards the end of the session.

First of August is definite though and if I can't make today I hope some-one will keep me informed as to what happened!

Me too, I'm afraid. I've gone down with something quite unpleasant. Being part of this group is proving to be awkward, especially as I'll be away for a few days around August 1st. Still, I look forward to reading all about it.

Great meeting you all today - shame we couldn't be outside and escape the musak!! Still it is a good venue.

I found it really useful meeting you all face to face - sometimes the internet can be a bit souless and it was good that we all had the chance to let each other know what it is we do - My notes are pretty poor so I will look forward to Lucy's minutes to update myself!

The joys of being a Freelancer .. I didn't go back to work this afternoon but sloped off to Wimbedon and had a bit of retail-therapy and I am now enjoying the tennis!

This would be great - it can be so isolating working on your own. I'm in new biz for PR, sounds like there's lots of similar people in the area.

I went to the second meeting, couldn't make the first. It was fun and valuable to meet lots of people with different experiences in similar-ish circumstances. Hope you can come to the next meeting. And if you can't don't worry - there will be more. Welcome!

Hi everyone. Many apologies but I won't now be able to make the 1st August meeting. It's one of my (very few) days off from Olympic volunteer duty so I have to attend to everything I've not had time to do, Trust all will go with a bang!

Hi Everyone,
Just to let everyone know there is a meetup at the leather bottle on Garrett lane tomorrow (Wednesday) at 7pm. Its our first evening meetup so hopefully might be more convinient for some of us.

Alas - I am over in Clapham until 6pm so not home until 6.15-30 by the time I have fed the hound and walked her it will be like tonight - Just sitting down and relaxing now at 8.15pm - hopefully will catch the next one
