Olympics travelling
There's obviously going to be a lot of transport disruption around thte Olympics. TfL is putting on two roadshows locally to tell us about road closures,Olympic routes, bus diversions etc. They will be on:
Friday 29 June 2-8pm Southside Shopping Centre
Saturday 14 July 10am - 4pm Putney Exchange.

I was more interested in the ORN lanes - the bus stops closed, the pedestrian crossings closed, the no right turns across the ORN lanes and the lights under local control. York Road isn't that wide - there is always a problem going towards Wandsworth Bridge because of the lane restrictions .. there are only three lanes - one for the buses .. two for traffic. Take one away to be used for the ORN traffic and the whole area must just as well be closed to anyone except the users of that lane.
TfL will be as biased as the Council and only giving you the 'hype' of the actual events, not the actual daily disruptions.
I am sorely tempted to test this out and let them take me to court - it's utterly outrageous.......
From what I understand (and I could be totally wrong in my understanding) there will be no pedestrian crossings in operation - only the ones at the traffic lights which will be under local control. I am trying to find out which bus stops are being suspended because if one of them is by christchurch gardens I will be stuck in for the duration.
The buses from Wandsworth Bridge to the Junction .. if they are no longer able to turn right and proceed up Plough Road, will that part of Battersea be totally cut off from public transport?
Too many questions to find answers for
The hospitals have been kept bang up to date with the hype .. but just by the nature of the business, they cannot work flexible hours from home. Sorry your nurse can't change your dressings, she is working from home? Wages unpaid? Sorry bank operating flexible hours and can't access your account for the moment.
I am pleased for the folk who it won't affect, but I do think everyone should be reading up on bus routes etc., all around London... and I do wish they would be exact in their agenda for the smooth running of London. From what I can work out, Wandsworth Roundabout and Vauxhall will be the two places you will have to travel to if you want to turn right at any point so you can come back on yourself and make a left turn.
I might be totally wrong in my reading of it all .. hope I am.
GetAheadofthe Games.com ...
Works begin in the week commencing 8 July.
ORN lanes - restrictions and fines commence 25 July.
I would love to say read all about it but can't get on to the website lol.
Yes - I read it ..
imagine an athlete traveling to East London by bus and getting stuck in traffic or not being able to attend due to some industrial action?
Have a look at the site http://www.london2012.com/venue/olympic-village/ - "The Olympic Village is located in the Olympic Park, within walking distance of the venues – enhancing the experience of athletes and officials who will stay there during the Games."
The athletes are all staying in the Olympic Park - about 5 minutes walk from the venues. These routes are primarily for the journalists and key Olympic partners (i.e. CocaCola, BT etc) to reward them for sponsering and covering the games.
