CINEMA needed/desired in Battersea / Clapham Junction area.

Does anyone else think that we can do with a cinema in our area?

There used to be two, many years ago; one where The Grand stands, on St John's Hill and another one, a bit further up, at the top of Plough Road, which then became a Bing Hall for a very long time, until recent resedential developments.

Clapham has The Clapham Picture House, Brixton has The Ritzy, Wandsworth has a Vue Cinema in the South Side Shopping Centre, Wimbledon and Putney both have Odeon cinemas......, but Battersea............., nothing, currently.

Is anyone at BAC reading this? It would be a really neat idea if a small cinema was set up there. Art House films and experimental stuff please, discussions with film makers.....(well, that's my choice, but I'd go to stuff on general distribution if that was wot youse all wanted).

Like Vivian I was brought up in Battersea and was able to go to the cinema  two or three times a week. Th e Savoy was my cinema of choice but I also went to the Granada  or the Wandsworth Palace

Jean G - I too used the Savoy .. lived very near it.  I agree about the other two - the only one I didn't like was the Century in the Northcote.

There used to be a cinema years ago called the Ruby it closed and became a bingo hall and when that didn't work it closed and stood empty  until a deveolper bought it and it is now flats!

So with that record, I am not sure how ever much it would be lovely, whether it is a viable proposition!
