I can't say that Southfields tube station looks as good as it normally does either as the sponsors have taken a very hard commerical approach - very unattractive and not sure it says anything about their brand.  Total waste of money and a great shame in my view.  In past years some sponsors have made it really novel or lovely.

We are told that it was decided to scrap the hanging baskets
because of the hose pipe ban.

I agree as it was so much nicer with the hanging baskets and Southfields station is also not as good as it has been in the past.

I understood in the past the baskets were funded by the tennis now it seems they cant stretch to that!

Wimbledon Tennis is a very wealthy organisation. A few hanging baskets would hardly dent their budget.

Sorry I would like to point out that the All England did not put up hanging baskets in Southfields because of the hose pipe ban(Margaret is correct). They do fund these nott  by Wandsworth or Merton. They have also cut down this year on their number of plants at the club due to the ban.
They should be back next year as long as there isn't a hose pipe ban! Also the sponsor at the station should change so watch out for next year!!

It does make me chuckle how someone actually tells people why they were not put up and then people continue to speculate when they have just been told why!! lol
