I've finally finished transferring old tapes to CD, and now have a redundant but good quality Aiwa cassette deck going spare, if anyone needs to go through the same exercise?
Hi, We have cassettes we would like to transfer the contents to CDs. Does this have a double cassette unit? That would be even better to edit some of the stuff we have.
If the cassette deck is still available, I could make use of it to return or pass on to anyone else as needs be. Thnx
I have an old double cassette player (it's an all-in-one CD/cassette/radio thing) which I was going to offer on Streetlife, but I am interested to know how you do the transfer to CD? I haven't solved the conundrum of what to do with my old cassettes (except play them in the car as I still have a cassette player in there!) Some are too poor quality to be worth the effort, but there are some I would like to keep for sentimental value. Is it easy to do?
Chances are I won't get around to it for some time, so would be happy to lend it out in the meantime, if it's suitable.
Thanks Ruth I'd love to borrow your player. However re: your transfer to CD, well the CD part must be a recorder as well. Not just a CD player. Most of those old cassette/CD decks were CD players only. Check whether yours records and you should be able to press the record button on the CD while playing your cassette.
Hope I haven't confused you! Let me know how you get on. Cheers
Transfer from cassette to CD is a computer operation, unless you have a special recording CD deck. There are numerous softwares available to do this, both free and paid. I recommend getting one that automatically separates the tracks. I use EZ Audio Converter, which is free I think. You will need soundcard etc. on your computer.
Thanks Emmsar and John F for your tips; I will maybe look into doing the transfer via computer at some stage, but don't have time at the moment - so the offer of the cassette player stands. I'm in South Wimbledon - drop me a line if you'd like to pick it up.
