Sofa going begging

I have a large 3.seater sofa in moss green from Sofa.com. I have only had it for three years but have bought a new one in Peter Jones clearance. I am therefore looking to get rid of it, if anyone knows, anyone who needs a new sofa or anyone who can take it away please let me know.

The British heart foundation comes and collects furniture as donations if you'd consider that...

We could collect however seems Sandra's friend in greater need. If that doesn't work out and you'd be happy for it to go to a local charity, let me know (07970 349740 or gill@wandsworthoasis.org.uk).

We also collect furniture for sale in the Wandsworth High Street shop.

Hi Miranda

Call Richard 0208 871 1812 - to arrange collection and in the meantime hopefully Sandra/Caroline can also get in touch and we can progress this.

One thing that does need to be confirmed is that the sofa has a fire retardent label permanently attached, that shows it complies with current fire regulations...

Hi Salvation Army ! I Just read your post ! it is 17.10 so I guess I am a little too late to call now. I am definatly interested to have a chat as I am trying to accomplish various good deeds at the hostel including organising a fun day for the kids and setting up a resident association. Can you message me your email so I can explain to you a bit more. I know some families living at the hostel living since the last few month without a fridge and they put the food outside by the window. I know what it feel like as i was myself without fridge for 3 weeks when I moved in, and it wasn't nice. I am also trying to set up a laundrette for the hostel with the help of various churches and associations in the area. 100 families and aroung 100-300 children live here, and there are no laundry facilities at all.  I had really good responses so far regarding possible funding, but the hostel managment said there is no space to host them...Local church say they can help with volunteer plumbers and electriciens but need to find a space to host them... :( Anyway there are so much i could talk about regarding positive ideas to improve the life of the residents and kid at the Nightingale square hostel that I will try to give you a call tomorrow.

Gil,
I received lot of donation of children books, toys, household items etc... I have put them outside in the hostel for families to pick up what they want or need. The manager told me that everything has to be gone by tomorrow night. Should we arrange something for tomorrow, for you to pick it up for the Oasis shops? Or if you can't maybe Salvation army might be interested...

I am also going to visit every single families to see what they need. Today I saw some hostel staff throwing a big TV away ! I told them what are you doing? Many people here need those stuff. Apparently they can't  give it away for health and safety so they are throwing it !  I hate waste, maybe you and salvation army could meet up with the hostel to arrange to collect stuff people leave ! Homeless families are only here temporary before behing rehoused ! It would be great to avoid throwing away perfectly good stuff that families left behind ! How can we have electric things tested  to avoid them to be wasted?
I got a free tv 2 weeks ago through freecycle for one family and the little girl was so happy to have one !I can't bear good stuff beeing thrown away when it could have been usefull for someone else...

Hi. Did the sofa ever get a new home?! Elx

Salvation Army Shop .
Dear Sandra

It seems to me that you need to firstly work through the excitement/shambles of your surrounding conditions...kids clubs/washing machines/TVs being thrown out./manager says everything must go.....as you are in a hostel, I assume you are "working" within the Wandsworth Council system...???   Please,  once you have confirmed the level of "outside" support you might need then get in touch....get back to us here......or in desperate need 0208 871 3765 at the Salvation Army Hall in Ram Street, Wandsworth......
