Any suggestions on a good local GP ( women preffered ) who is actively yours and you can recommend. Must be special to recommend please, I have had some disappointing experiences :(
Try the Elborough Street Surgery - if not 100% female doctors than close to it. My wife swears by it and it raised our kids with no visible signs of damage.
I'm with the Pountney St Clinic: there are two excellent female doctors there. Dr Kroll & Dr. Tonkin (much younger). There is an 8.30am emergency walk-in surgery. They are closed on Sats. Health Centre, 19 Pountney St, SW11 5TU Home: 08444 77 31 07 Home fax: 0844 477 73117
Lavender Hill Group Practice closed 12 -1.30pm. lavenderhill.administrator@nhs.net
Depends on your location but there are female doctors in the Falcon Road surgery - they really are very good. If you ask for a specific doctor when wanting an appointment you might not get in the same day but you won't be waiting too long. From memory I think they have three or four ladies.
Dr Wallat -Vago at Trinity Medical Centre on Balham High Road ( near tooting bec) is my fabulous female Gp. I am a ward sister and take my own healthcare very seriously and she is definitely taking very good care of me as I am going through a serious illness at the moment. I highly recommend her!! Trinity Medical Centre 0208 672 3331
My Doctor is Dr. Ban Haider at the St John's Therapy Centre at the top of St John's Hill. She is young, supportive and on the ball. 0208-812-4170 is the surgery number where she works with her father who is also a doctor.
I second the recommendation for Lavender Hill Group Practise. Dr. Kroll is an outstanding GP and I'm sure she wouldn't have recruited a second-rater in Dr. Tonkin.
Must be getting old. Upon my Mother being taken ill I remember Dr. K being brought to the house as a young student by her predecessor!
Its not very clear where you are Pascale but if you live between Wakehurst Rd & Nightingale Lane/Clapham Common Westside & Bolingbroke Grove you're in the catchement area for what is widely recognised as one of the best, if not the best, GP surgery in SW London - the Thurleigh Road Practice (http://www.thurleighroadpractice.co.uk/ ).
Huge demand for their services means the catchement area is gradually shrinking thanks to NHS rules but the fact that two-thirds of the doctors are female and that the nurse practitioners (all female) are highly regarded means that they are well-attuned to womens' health matters (even the male doctors!!).
I would recommend 2 of our 4 female GP's at my practice in Queenstown Road. They are Helen Eakin and Sian Job. I have been with them for many years with revolving problems that they have solved for me. Good luck with your hunt. I would also recommend The GP practice in Pountney Road as have had dealings with their female GP's with success. Again, good luck, Cathy
A bit late to this post Mercedes, but I have found Dr K Salim who works out of a surgery in Trinity Road and Streerforth Road, Earlsfield really good. She's really perceptive, thorough and efficient!

Notable are Drs. Nasiruddin & Ovasi.
