Sunday Market at Wimbledon Greyhound Stadium

I just wanted to make sure everyone knows of the market that is on every Sunday in the car park of the greyhoud stadium in Summerstown. I went on Sunday to get some fruit and veg and was amazed by the amount I got for just under £9.20. So much so that I came home and costed the same from Sainsbury's - it would have cost about £13.20 (after BOGOF and other offers). The fruit is all good quality.
Being a bit fed up of going to Sainsburys day in day out on my way home from work (as well as the somewhat grumpy assistants I often encounter) it was a breath of fresh air to chat with the market traders. As well as lots of clothes, there are also cards and wrapping paper (again much cheaper!), plants (not a huge range), eggs, homemade jams and preserves, olives and feta, general household items as well as two meat stalls which sell many cuts of meat (oh and an ice cream van!). There is also a car boot sale on the other side of the car park.
Dont get me wrong, it is no different to a lot of markets, but hope you may find this useful if you didnt know about it and save a bit of cash!

Actually I went there a fortnight ago after not going for a long time & was really dissappointed. Years ago it could take up your Sunday morning walking around all the various stalls they had, but you'd be lucky if it takes about 10 minutes & it never used to have the boot sale section either. We left & went all the way to Battersea to the Nine Elms market which was alot busier & worth the effort to get too.

I think the market is suffering same as other retailers.  Great stall there selling hoover accessories though - very useful!

My Wife usually gets the fruit and veg from that stall. It is always busy,so he must be doing something right. He also give discount on bulk sales(do Sainsbury?)
I had a look in the new Sainsbury in Southfields.Well their small bottles of Coke were more expensive than the local shop, crisp packets were the same price.
Worse, their bottles of Peroni beer were promoted at 4 for £6. In the Independent store they were £1.39 each and you don't have to buy 4.
Supermarkets are not cheap anymore.
@Cookie last time I went to Nine Elms, the atmosphere was scary.Lots of young men in hoodies in crowds and rogue dealers selling probably stolen gear.
I admit it was about 2 years ago, maybe it was a one off or has changed for the better.

I too stopped going to nine elms after being challenge/harassed by a hooded black man for not giving him enough room as he barged by me.  When I said excuse me (he barged into me not the other way around) he got very verbally abusive (as my husband pulled me away to safety).  I'll never go there again I'd rather pay more at the grocery store...
