its not always dogs mess

church elm lane dagenham. elderly couple walking along, saw african family, the daughter promptly drops her pants and craps on the street.then without even wiping pulls up her pants again. the old lady is furious. she tells the mother that this is england and you just do not do that here in this country. she told them she was fed up with them spreading their filth and germs, and that they should clear it up and take it away. after all she told them , dog owners have to pick up their dogs mess or they get fined, humans toiletting on the pavement is far worse. with that, knowing she was in the wrong started shouting abuse at the old lady. its a pity the old lady never called the police about them. she was right, it is digusting and dirty, and its wrong to abuse an old lady for telling the truth. i have seen this happen once and heard many other times of them usuing our streets as toilets. it should be put a stop to. so next time you see mess on the pavement DO  NOT assume it was a dog, it could be HUMAN.

i have not heard of that but i have seen people searching through our big dustbins the estate cleaners said
that over the road in one of the outher dustbin sheds they had pulled all the rubbish out of the bins an dumped it on the floor i saw the two women myself while standing on my door step so i can well belive it

Unfortunately this happens often and these people have been seen to do the very same in their own gardens, even though they might have two toilets in their homes.  It's no wonder we have so many diseases coming back.

We have to report every incident we witness until someone somewhere does something about this or we will descend into the third world even faster than we presently are.

Wow read this in disbelief but sadly not surprised. It just matches all the spit on the pavements totally disgusting & revolting.
It stirred a recent memory when I was talking to a waitress in a local restaurant & she kept on about human faeces along Station Road Chadwell Heath, I politely listened but thought she must be mistaken however after reading this she was sadly right.
What on earth have we come to?

It was a shock to read that what we think is dogs mess could actually be human!  Never heard of this before!

I am really not at all surprised by the people going to the toilet in the street, and yes there should be a fine as it is so disgusting. I have also witnessed the blowing of noses straight on to the ground its sickening to see. And as we all have wheelie bins is it the same people leaving bags of rubbish on street corners.

a mother and son were outside mc donalds at new road. the son poo on the pavement in full view of pedestrians and motorists.  then they just walked away as if this was a naturel thing to do. surely if you were that desperate to go, mc donalds would have let him use their toilets.
as you said Linda, its also their terrible disgusting habit of blowing their noses with their fingers and flicking it to the ground. or coughing up and spitting on the pavement. they are sickening. all those germs for others to tread in .TB was eradicated from this country . it is now rife because of them. but we are not allowed to speak out as it is racist. they can do whatever they like, because if you stopped them it would be against their human rights. its a pity the idiotic government who said immigration is good for us dont have to live amogst the germs and filfth.

Absolutey disgusting. This shouldn 't be a fine the parent/parents should be arrested for behaviour likely to cause a breach of the peace or public order offence likley to cause alarm or distress or even child cruelty. I know the last one seems a bit excessive but follow me with this. As the child grows up in the belief that this kind of behaviour is acceptable consider how much of a target for bullying and ridicule he or she  would suffer from her peers if the child behaved in this way in the school playground. I know that this may be an extreme example but it could happen. Surely that is cruelty................... As for human rights I am a firm believer that these only apply to humans !

Why hasn't anyone taken mobile video/photos of these events ? Follow them to see where they reside and report them to the police ?
Make an example of them so word would get around in their community that you just can't get away with that unexceptable behaviour.
Pam D
We'd probably be arrested for taking indecent photos Suzie and I'm sure Human Rights would come into it somewhere; theirs of course.

i wonder what they are like in their homes. a woman was telling me that her son came home from school saying that because the immigrant children poo in the playground, he had been given the job of taking them to the toilet and showing them what to do. the boys reward was a badge. the mother was furious and was off to the school to complain. why should our children be doing this. if the parents cant toilet train their kids ,then these children should not be allowed to attend school.

It isn't racist to point out that defecating in the street is a heath hazard, not to mention disgusting. It is racist to assume that because one African or immigrant did so, all Africans / immigrants are to blame.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/mobile/magazine-13134283 says that spitting in the street isn't a health hazard. I'm not condoning it, and neither is the article.

I didn't take the comments to be racist. The author said they meaning more than one not they all meaning a particular section of society. Once again it would appear diffcult to make an observation without racist undertones being applied to the coment. Yes unfortunately we have in our society some who when not dragging their nuckles along the street are spouting offensive, ill informed and bigotted vile clap trap blaming every and all problems on immigrants. Their are good and bad in every race, creed or colour of our society but I do not belive that there are any who use this site to promulgate  those views. Maybe some people find it difficult to express their sincere held opinions in a non-inflamatory way and without appearing to have a racist overtone. Streelife is not an extreme enough forum for the bigots to pratice their joined up writing or thinking !
Linda H
It would still be wrong where ever you were from to use the street as a toilet, Some people down my Road had a party where there was a toilet  available but it did not stop them having a wee up every ones hedges and gates, and this was not children it was grown men. They should have known better in my opinion.

http://www.toilettwinning.org/serious-stuff/the-need/

"1 in 3 people across the world don’t have somewhere safe to go to the toilet. Bad sanitation is one of the world’s biggest killers: it hits women, children, old and sick people hardest. Every minute, three children under the age of five die because of dirty water and poor sanitation. And, right this minute, around half the people in the world have an illness caused by bad sanitation."

Maybe people don't know any different. Maybe where they come from they have no option to use a safe toilet facility and when they come here they carry on the same.

Colin N
"Maybe some people find it difficult to express their sincere held opinions in a non-inflamatory way and without appearing to have a racist overtone."

I take your point, but we must be careful that we stick to facts, not opinions. I don't want to single anyone out, and I aplologise for doing so, but I need an example statement, and i just read "[TB} is rife because of them." Is TB rife? Is it rife in the UK? If it is spreading, what is the cause? Who is "them"?

http://www.hpa.org.uk/web/HPAweb&HPAwebStandard/HPAweb_C/1195733756039 says - amopngst other useful things:

"Although TB is increasing in the UK it remains quite rare (about 8000 new cases a year) and is predominantly confined to the major cities - about 40% of all cases are in London."

So that's about 40% of about 8000 (3,200) new cases of TB in London. I assume Greater London, population about 7.5 million

Colin N
3200 / 7.5 million is just over 0.04%

I was under the impression that Streetlife was all about expressing opinions !
If people want to make sweeping statements without the foundation of fact then their comments will not generate much interest or be able to stand sustained scrutiny, which is their loss.
Colin N
What I am getting at is that opinions should be presented as opinions and not as facts. Saying (to continue with the same example) that TB is rife looks like a fact, but on examination proves not to be. Now you could say "in my opinion TB is rife", but what is the point of an opinion that is directly countered by facts?

There is no excuse for defecating in public.  Ignorance is not an excuse.  Surely it is obvious to anyone that the vast majority of people do not drop their undergarments and go in the street!  The council may need to produce a leaflet to hand out when housing people that toilets are for defecation, not streets.  Letting agents should do the same.  This is not acceptable behaviour whereever the perpetrators are from.  This is NOT a third world country (yet), there are toilets in every home.  What do they think they are for?
Colin N
It's very puzzling. Having to tell people not to defecate in the street would be extraordinary. When you're at home you've got your own toilet to use whenever you want. When you're out it's different - you've got to use someone else's or a public one. Maybe that's where the problem starts.

I'm not trying to excuse the behaviour, just understand it. Would someone who knows how to access a toilet when they're not at home defecate in the street or allow their child to?

It's very hard to understand why someone would think it's OK to do this, and harder yet if the know they shouldn't do it, but still do.
Suzie H
It's all very sad but I do believe most people are decent folk but there are always gonna be a few that make us wary but their unexplicable actions.
Linda H
Well Colin N I was saying the exact same thing to my mum yesterday, if you have a toilet in doors, you obviously know what it for.
