Bike fitting

My son is 14 years old and would like his first road bike.

We need to get him a proper fitting so do any of you have a recommendation for a local bike shop (SW18) which is knowledgeable, good value and friendly?

Many thanks

Paul M

There is a place called Stratton Cycles (I think?) on East Hill. I used to live by it and it was always busy. Small independent place with many many bikes in it. May be worth a look.

There is also the new bike shop on Garratt Lane, just past Sainsburys. No idea if it's any good - it is a chain store I believe.

I would also recommend strattons. It's a small shop, but Mark, the guy who runs it is very good and knowledgable. He has looked after my biking needs for quite a while now.

I use Luciano Cycles in Battersea Rise, (just up the road from Clapham Junction) all the time.  The staff (Dudley and Clive) are knowledgeable and very helpful, they sell bikes and repair and maintain them, for all ages. 020 7228 4279            97 Battersea Rise SW11  1HW

I use Evans in Wandsworth High St.  Very knowledgable and very kind staff.

I've just discovered The London Cycle Workshop:   http://www.thelondoncycleworkshop.co.uk/
They are very helpful.

Hi Paul,

Little off topic, but may be worth taking your son along to Herne Hill Velodrome. It could be a chance for him to ride on a track, bit different from road biking but could be a lot of fun.

Lucky boy :)
