Why did it close?
Maggie L
the lease ran out and there were enough customers to keep it going.
Maggie L
There were NOT enough customers
Susan S
Doesn't affect us as never drunk in there.the kids use to go in their when they were little for the annual bonfire
Val R
the resident community need to keep this much needed facility, as they are really separated from the centre of the borough.
Maggie L
The residents TRA would like to take this on, but there are not enough volunteers ready to help and that leaves just two of us to do the work. One is disabled and the other a pensioner.

Apathy reigns on Scrattons Farm.

We Need people to HELP us KEEP this for the childen of the area to stop the happy clappers from getting this community hall

PLEASE. HELP US

This is a terrible problem; no-one wants to commit these days to help with anything.  It's a real shame because we are losing so many facilities that we used to have because of the general apathy everywhere.

Unfortunately we have the same problems on Thames View with different things we try to do.

those were the days.

The place has only been shut for a week and the sods have already got in and wrecked it.

Yesterday some stupid little oik tried to set the empty club alight. It hasn't,t been shut three weeks yet. What is the matter with them. We are trying to get it opened as a youth club and community centre, and they are trying to destroy it. However we have a name and the police are helping us, so hopefully they will catch him, or her.
Susan S
Makes you wonder how brain dead they are .people try to do good on the estate for them but they have no respect just want to destroy everything.its such a shame

I remember it because we had a school reunion there (Cambell Secondary School) and had a good time.
Maggie L
Last night some stupid people set fire to the old social club, and this time I hear they succeeded in doing a lot of damage. This now means that there will be no community centre, no youth club, and no more events for the estate.

To say we are angry is an understatement. You try to do something for the estate, and some parents complain that there is nothing for the kids to do. Well now they will have nothing, so all those complainers can just shut up. It wasn't our decision to burn the place down. I hope they catch the score who did it, and lock him up for a long time.

Rant over.
Maggie L
IPads correction app sometimes does not put the right thing. Instead of score, put b.......

The good news is that its not all over.

The building is structurally sound and the Residents and Friends are collaborating to get a new, bigger and better community , sport and social centre, which is fit for purpose for all ages, off the ground.

All of you who believe in Scrattons PLEASE, attend the public meeting at Castle Green, (Jo Richardson School) at 7.30 pm Tuesday 7th August. The meeting is with the Council and we wish to demonstrate public support for our community.

SCRATTONS needs you.

Colin N
All the best for this. I hope it works out well for yoiu all.

Thank you so much Colin. Meeting went well and we are all feeling buoyant about the future of our community. Really helps to know we have friends and supporters such as yourself.
With my kindest regards and many thanks.
Kathy
