something positive, i have recently made a trip to tooting market and i really like whats happening in there, the food stalls and new shops opening, a really nice vibe going on, worth a visit especially for the food.
Totally agree with you Leanne - the new guys running the market are really making an effort to ensure it offers something different from what was there before.
Do take a look folks if you haven't been down in a while.
I'm so happy as I found a great hairdresser in the market. Very friendly and does a great job for very low cost. Look for Hermes, the 'salon' is black/white/red.
Totally agree with Hermes! He's fantastic. I went there about a month ago. The only slight issue is that he's no longer there. I walked passed his 'salon' and there is someone else in there. Do you know if he's moved elsewhere?
Kim & Jo S - I agree with you about Hermes! On your recommendation I sought him out & had a wash & blowdry with him yesterday. Hair looked great, felt unusually soft & silky afterwards & it was very good value. (For other Jo: He is now opposite The Brick Box cafe in Tooting market.and apparently open six days a week bar Sundays)
Another fine haircut from Hermes today....I'm calling it the '10 years younger' cut - I'm 40 next year! People were walking by saying how good it looks. Obviously you can't see the back but it's a graduated bob so quite short on the neck. AND it only cost £10.
Hermes has moved from Broadway Market to Tooting Market. He trades in shop 26A (opposite the previous Brick Box Cafe). Also, we are having a Community Talent Show 'Tooting's Got Talent' on Saturday the 18th of August, over 10 live acts, 3 judges (one surprise judge should be signing up soon :) a dontation station from Wandsworth Oasis, other ive performances and other new stalls on the day. Its gunna be a really nice day, so please come down and show your support and spread the word!! Thank you.
Hi Kim. Yes I have been. Hermes did a very simple trim and it did look nice. He is charming and obviously dedicated. I had it blow dried (extra £10) so £20 in all.
The only downer is that when I arrived at the right time for my appt, there were 2 ladies already there, one of whom was having colours! Whilst, I was slotted in after coming back, the whole thing took longer than it should and it was a little stressful as the ladies sat there obviously not very happy to have to wait for my blow dry to be finished. I suppose it depends how you view having your hair cut. I have to find a babysitter and it is a bit of a me time treat so for me, it may be worth paying the extra ££ to have it done in a proper salon (rather the hussle and bustle of a market).
Having spotted Kim's recommendation, I tried them out yesterday and I was very impressed. I wandered by on the off-chance they might be able to fit me in because Hermes' phone wasn't working and although he had gone home (it was about 4pm), his lovely business partner Shelly was happy to fit me in. I had a great haircut and will be going back on a regular basis. Thank you KIm!
Jo - oh, that's annoying he didn't keep strictly to your appointment. Sounds like he needs to be more organised espand considerate ecially if he starts getting busier. Sharon - I haven't met Shelly yet, I'm sure I will at some stage as I need to get highlights done sometime soon.

Just wondering if you've had your 'cheap' haircut yet and what you think if you have.
Kim

It good to give it a try so thanks for the tip.
