Bike stolen from Clapham Junction
My bike went missing from outside Clapham Junction station last week (I foolishly left it over night). It was locked with a D-lock through the frame and front tyre and a chain connecting to the other tyre. There was no sign of the locks, it had just disappeared.
The CJ shopping centre manager said as they were doing works on the pavement outside the station the bike racks were loose, so could just be pulled out of the ground and the locks etc slid off.
If you are leaving your bike there, maybe just give the rack a good shake to make sure it is firmly embedded in the concrete. My bike was an ancient Trek but it had new tyres and new cartridge and gears so I assume it was just stolen for the parts:-(

The bikes get a code etched into the frame, the frame number, model and code are then recorded which means if this situation does arise, there is a greater chance of the bike being returned.
There were some sessions which happened earlier this summer:

If you contact your Safer Neighbourhood Team I'm sure that they would be able to let you know how/when the next one is, or where you could get your bike on their system.
If the thieves were caught and SEVERLY punished, this would stop.
Sorry, I forgot, it would be against their human rights!!!(or should I say thieves charter?)
Its always a good idea to make sure your property is marked or registered with immobilise.com that way if it is stolen and get recovered you have a good chance of getting it back.
Just for information there has been a lot of robberies of Iphones off of people in the street in the Battersea area. If you have an Iphone take care where you use it and who is around when you do.
