May I recommend Herman Jiminez - just finished our drive - laying it with Indian sandstone as well as a 5 m Victorian black and white tiled path.He has also moved a bathroom from the back of a property to the front - no mean feat! Thanks everyone for your kind feedback. I have used the Mybuilder website but have recently found that builders are charged as soon as you ask for a quote so I feel bad if I don't give them the work! I have also found the builders from this site generally charge extra because of this now and can be quite pushy in getting the job. Therefore, I prefer to go by local recommendations and would be interested in hearing from people who have consistently found a particular builder to be good. I have given the two builders mentioned a call so thanks and I will keep you updated as to how I get on.
Hi Victoria, On your recommendation I contacted Herman and he came round to inspect and gave me a reasonable quote (I have a couple of leaks). We arranged for him to come yesterday but didn't show up. Left three messages but hasn't responded. Thought he was reliable. Maybe I should try Thomas as recommended by Nina. On previous threads Stan Jones and Alan Jones (not related) were recommended too.
Hi Rina - sorry to hear that. I found Herman to be very reliable .Obviously one can only go on ones experience... you try to help these tradesmen and then they let people down and then they wonder why they don't get any business. Shame the building industry is not run by women, would be a far better organisation! Good luck with Thomas
