path parking

why do people park on the footpaths when there is plenty of room on the road for traffic to pass inc buses.its not an offence to park on the path unless the local council has banned it.but obstruction is an offence so unless these people want a hefty fine maybe they should think twice about it.another thought does their insurance cover them if someone gets injured by stepping into the road to get by

This happens down London Road (my haunt) to some extent but it's rarely an issue. It's quite a wide path and the cars rarely have more than their wheels on the path. I think they do this under the delusion that cars will be able to get around them without pulling into the opposite lane. They're completely wrong but it's a nice thought.

But as I say, they're not eclipsing our pavements. If they are yours you might want to consider some simple leafleting. Just a "Please don't block the pavement - Thanks" under a windscreen-wiper should let people know they're causing problems.

Very simple.  In order to minimise the obstruction to traffic flow.  I always do so unless the road is capable of serving three lanes of traffic, and will continue to do so.
