I hope this site is not going to be used for commercial promotions as opposed to exchanging information and experiences about our locality. I don't really mind Ron B's piece but I do worry that the big boys will just turn it into something else.

Don't think we need to worry too much. If Tesco, BP or Glaxo start recommending their services here I think we'll give them pretty short shrift, don't you?
On the other hand, telling each other about small local companies that do repairs seems like a very good use of this site to me, judging by my recent enquiry about carpet fitters.

Just to let you know that;

I have lived in this area since 1992 and have like many others struggled during the recession.

I started my company approx 2 years ago with a committment to ensure that quality work and a first class customer service is at the heart  of what i do.

I put my name and address on all of my estimates and phone numbers and sleep well at night.

On another level I am a social entrepreneur and am involved in a local charity which seeks to ensure that our community is a safe and enjoyable and prosperous place to live.

So I do recognise that this shouldn't be a site to exploit for personal gain but at the same time I have to be opportunistic, within a remit of recognizing that doesn't mean taking advantage.

However don't forget that this site comes with a risk because if someone decides to take up my services and aren't satisfied then this site could become my grave yard.

Anyway,  here i am. I like the journal read it regulalry and this seemed like a good idea so I just responded to a 'streetlife' request.

I will try and sort out a photo etc asap.
