Where can i buy milk to support dairy farmers?

Where can i buy milk to support diary farmers? I also want to support the environment and not have plastic bottles either. So that seems to leave me with farmers markets and delivery. But upon researching on-line I found that Dairy Crest, the main milk delivery monopoly, is just as bad as most supermarkets. I tried calling a load of independant milk deliverers, but none deliver to this area.

Has anyone in the area found a solution?

Dandelion on the Northcote Road sell (or used to) Manor Farm milk - not in bottles though in tetra paks but it is delicious.

I gave up on food from the big supermarkets years ago.  Riverford Organic deliver veg, organic milk, cheese, organic meat, etc in boxes which you fold and return for reuse by them. Great service and the delivery is free. They operate a successful collective of farms sourcing food locally whenever possible.  And yes, they have their own dairy herds. You will smile when you see this clip – the Riverford cows bounding into their fields at the start of spring: http://www.riverford.co.uk/about_riverford/animal_welfare/

I agree with Michael.  Riverford are wonderful!  I've used them for about 6 years and love their produce and their ethics.  I've tried another organic box scheme but Riverford are the best for me.  I used to buy Riverford milk - which I think comes in cartons - but mainly have goats milk now which Riverford don't do (yet!).

You can get fresh raw milk from the real food market in Hammersmith. Its there every Friday ,just past the shopping centre. It comes direct from the farm no middle man.
