Neighbours' council double glazed, front window got smashed (broke too easily as not fitted with safety glass as he thought they all should be) late one night. Repair men came out to him, placed a sheet of wood over the smashed window pane and NAILED it into the plastic frame around it!

That's intelligent! So more money for a complete new unit rather than just the glass. I thiught this council is supposed to be saving money?

They are supposed to be saving money and this is a FINE example of economy cuts.

Nails are cheaper than screws !

Well it is a bout time this happened.  I have gone through the whole process of Shape up, Thames Accord and finaly Enterprise.  All of them a complete waste of time.  Over 20 years of incomplete works and bad maintenance.  I do hope they keep in house work for local people .  It would be nice also ito employ latest redundant employees from Remploy. These are people with Disabilities and in the light of the forthcoming paraolympics the Government need reminding of this issue.

A lot of the Enterprise workers were council employees who TUPE across when the work went out side. The work force will be given the opportunity to TUPE when it goes back. So your gonna bed getting the same workmen but under direct council management, and we all know how good that is!

A few years ago we were having new carpets on the stairs and bedroom, when we pulled the old carpets up found that a few floor boards were a bit dodgy so we called the council, well I honestly could have done a better job myself and the bloke that came reckons he has been a carpenter for 25yrs more like 25minutes. Also the double glazing that the council put in is awful its makes the net curtains look grey and makes our house so hot in the summer its unbearable and its doubtful that it keeps the house warmer in the winter. The central heating we got wonky radiators a boiler that made an explosion sound and the radiator in the big bedroom is huge and the one in the living room quite small.
