Disposal of Lavender Hill Police Station

Apparently the Mayor has given approval for disposal of a number of police stations across London in 2012/13, including the one on Lavender Hill.  Perhaps this is to provide for a badly-needed estate agent on the site?  Although, according to statistics, crime has fallen in London I can't help thinking these disposals send out all the wrong signals.  What do others think?

The one on the Hill is attached to the Magistrates Court so I can't see it closing completely but - who knows?

I don't understand it. Has the level of activity that goes on there been declining? If it's been little used for a few years then I can see the logic but I wouldn't know how to find out.

There's been a police station on that site ever since the community around it was built, so I find it strange and a bit sad that it's been earmarked for sale now.

Hi folks if you look back at previous postings from Police you will see clear explanation of why these offices are closing. If cannot find I will  post again.

There's a comment from the Borough Commander about this on their Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/wandsworthpolice/posts/430174033695848

(and you don't need to be logged on to Facebook to read it..)

I wish the police would think things through. A couple of years ago I found a passport and took it to Amen corner. There was an enormous queue and only one person on the desk. A man came in with a bag he had found and decided to leave it which caused uproar as it could have been a bomb. Just what are people supposed to do with lost property and other things that need to be spoken about?
