Volunteers are needed in Barking and Dagenham re; Parking Policy

I am looking to organise volunteers into small ward based groups to continue to rally support against the council over their parking policy.

There will be no minimum time commitment for this, as much or as little as you can spare. Working as you wish in your local area providing information, conducting a survey and if possible offering a petition to be signed.

I will provide the documentation, co-ordinate everyone's efforts (only to prevent duplication) and monitor activities for everyone's safety. You would not be allowed to work alone on this, again for safety reasons..

If you want to set up a stall outside a friendly neighbourhood shop, canvass opinion at the school gates or go door to door..Its entirely up to you.

Know what would work best in your neighbourhood.

We need to take the issue to the public, to more of the public.

If I can get the support then I would envisage that this will take place over the next couple of weeks.

If your interested please send me brief details of where you live (rough area not full address at this stage) and when you would be prepared to work.

Send details via Private Messages above.

Thank you.

How active are people on Facebook on here?  Local people knowing a lot of other local people on the social network would allow word of an event such as the second protest march to spread across the area quickly!

Is there any ideas on a date for the second protest march?  Does this need to be agreed with the police again?

At this stage I personally would not consider a march much before October. Whilst I am aware of the weather conditions I think that the march would be a last resort.

I have spent two months researching the issue and promoting it on Streetlife. I have canvassed opinions to try and gauge the support.

At this time I feel that I have a valid case to put before the council which destroy's the vast majority of their reasoning/justification for their parking policy.

I now need to be in possession of documented support to enforce the case and that is why I am adopting this approach.

Two issues were identified from the other march. Firstly it was arranged to quickly and at the wrong time. Secondly I think that I need to go to the people and not expect them to come to me.

Always open to suggestions ?

I do understand Facebook is a good way to get a message across but I don't use it and wouldn't have a clue how to so Mark, you'd probably need to run a Facebook course or something to set this up, which could probably be useful and give us all (well me anyway) explicit instructions on how to use it.
