Hello

I would just like to that I haven't used that specific Library before but could imagine the negative effects its going to have on the community.

I live near to Markyate Library I used to use the library a lot, but found they did not seem to get many new books. I probably used it more when my sons were young as their school was just round the corner so we used to go there after school. It is a shame it is shutting as the school is still there and I daresay a lot of children still go there, also elderly people used it a lot.

Don't forget the eBook service.  Both Redbridge and Barking/Dagenham are members of the London Libraries Consortium.  Your library membership entitles you to download up to 5 eBooks at a time to read on your computer or on any EPUB-compatible device. Older readers will appreciate that ALL books are now LARGE TEXT at the press of a button!

For information, the other main use of a public library, I think we have to accept that the Internet took over some time ago.

No, it's not the same, we'll lose reading groups etc.,some older people will make a fuss about adapting, and I have an emotional attachment to the old library sysyem too.  But what really matters is that we are able to read  books and get  information.  And we still can, despite the country having run out of money.  Did we really think nothing would change?
