Special FREE walk - Sat. 29th - Megawalk!
Hullo everyone,
Enjoy walking? Want to see the best landscape in London and be surprised at where that is?
On Saturday 29th the seventh annual Green Chain 'Megawalk' reveals all in a remarkably easy and enjoyable way. Yes, South East London's 'Green Chain Walk' is widely regarded as the very best footpath in London.
At average walking pace throughout we'll stroll the 21 miles to Erith, the Easternmost point of the Green Chain. The further you go the better the landscape gets and tired feet will want to keep going! We'll pass through miles of dense woodland and see views that extend right out to the North Sea. For much of the walk you'd have no idea that you are in a City, let alone London. After a suburban start this walk really does develop into something exceptionally attractive.
It's a little challenge but don't let this put you off. There's always pleasant company and the camaraderie sees everyone through to the finish. If you do want to leave early there's excellent public transport throughout.
We meet outside Crystal Palace railway station at 9.15am and will finish between 6.30pm and 7.00pm. There are frequent trains back to London Bridge from Erith. There's no charge and no need to book but all who take part do so entirely at their own risk. A packed lunch is essential. The walk Leaders No. on the day will be 077 998 101 78. Some more details are here...

Originally part of the late Green Chain Walking Festival the 'Megawalk' was then promoted by TfL's Walk London. Neither body now has funding so this year the walk is offered by highly experienced volunteers who worked for both organisations. It's now the ONLY free guided walk of any distance on London's footpath network and is deserving of support. Hundreds have done the Megawalk before and EVERY single participant has come away delighted.
Very highly recommended and feel free to ask for any further details.
I look forward to seeing you.

Just wanted to thank you for the walk. It was brilliant, and I had a great day!
I have emailed London Walk to be notified of future walks.
Thanks for the above, and for your company. Everyone who does this walk enjoys it and they'll be two more in 2013. A repeat of this one in exactly a year and the overnight version in June or July.
All the best
Ian
