Fox baiting my daughter's pet rabbit - Jeypore Road/Westover Road

I know foxes have been done to death on this forum... So no MFH or antis debate please.

Discovered a fox tense, taunt and clearly in full hunting mode sniffing our rabbit cage early this morning. He'll be back for sure.

What should I do ? Get rid of the rabbit now ? Or wait for the one night where perhaps he'll get lucky ? And face the inevitable daughter tears...

Not sure.

Do you have room for a small shed or something to keep the cage in?

Or might you have a little corner in your house where you can bring the rabbit in overnight?  I think rabbits sleep during the night so it would only have to be a smallish box.

I've heard men's urine can deter foxes but not I'm sure you'd want to go so far as weeing around your daughter's rabbit cage!! Good luck - I hope your daughter can keep her rabbit.

substitute ground level cage for sturdy hutch on stilts- and male urine has worked for me in keeping foxes away from my front of house plants. I have a keen sense of smell and there was nothing untoward of odour. When U urinate make sure that some is actually on the wood of the cage. However bringing the creature in is best idea.,

Have had and still have the same problem with foxes. I have made sure the age is very sturdy and have built a pen that goes on the front of the cage to restrict access to the cage by the fox. Its always a good idear to cover the cage at night as well, it helps to make the rabbits feel more secure.

AS long as every thing is secure the rabbits should be fine.

i think that's best idea so far, dirty great blanket over whole cage
thanks folks

Make sure you don't cover the whole cage - fumes from the rabbit's urine can irritate their eyes.

There are fox deterants some of them on line and some at the garden centre opposite wandsworth prison - call them for advise Captial gardens 020 8348 5054 they have a fox deterentat at £45 pounds and scoot for £9.50.                               Your best option may be to get a smaller cage and bring the rabbit into the kitchen at night so bunny is really safe and your daughter is happy....                        There is also a pets at home on Plough lane near the dog track    : 0845 850 9610  they would have small indoor night cages or advice    ......... I Keep my cats in at night because the foxes have attacked them in the early morning right infront of my eyes                  Best wishes Liz and let us know how you get on:)

For me - electronic fox deterrants have not worked and I have purchased two differnet make/models over the years. I had forgotten about Capital GC by HMPW so thanks for reminder Liz.

Foxes hunt for rats and mice- something which I didnt know. However, they are also keen on rabbits (since they are rodents as well). If you want well informed advice on how to live sensibly with urban foxes, have a look at::
