knives and scissors

I have quite a collection of kitchen knives and scissors, mostly useless.  The knives don't hold an edge for longer than a couple of slices and the scissors although pointed are dreadful.  Can anyone offer an idea for safe useage or disposal? I am afraid they could still do damage!

You can put them in metal recycling orr scissors can be sharpened, where they usually do key cutting..

Hi
Don't think of binning them. Take them to knife sharpening/lawn repair shop on Garratt lane in earlsfield sw18 by Catholic Church.
He is great and you will have a new set of knives
Clapham Knife Sharpening
We could fix the knives for you. We're local, reasonably priced and get great results on the oldest knives.
