Residents permit spaces - blue badge holders parking in them
Something I have never understood.
Why are blue badge holders allowed to park in Residents spaces? Take my close for example, it is bang on the doorstep of the town centre, it has single yellow lines in it all round it which are out of bounds from 8.30-6.30 Monday to Saturday due to shoppers and the station, we have very limited bays so you can probably fit in around 10 or 11 cars. Less if you get the odd person who can't park sensibly. There are then areas where you can fit another 10 cars on the yellow lines.
So why are the blue badge holders allowed to park in the bays? I can only park in the bays but the blue badge holdes can park on the single yellow line? If I have a visitor and give them a scratchy permit there is not normally space as the blue badge holders are there!
It does not make sense to me as the blue badge holders can park where I can't so why don't they?
When I asked in the Havering Public Advice centre (AKA The losing the will to live centre) they just said that the blue badge holders can park there and that was that, they were not willing to note my comment or look into it and see that it can be a problem for residents and visitors of residents.
There are ample places for the blue badge holders to park in my close so it is not a case of the only place is in the resident bays.
I don't think we need extra bays, we just need the blue badge holders to park on the yellow lines!
