Transferring data from iphone to computer

My son had all his i tune music and data on his computer and then transferred it to his iphone. However the computer has now broken and been disposed off, he is trying to load the data from his iphone to the new computer but no luck. Does anyone know if this can be done?

Morning Tash,

Yes it can be done, the legality of doing so is possibly questionable.  The simplest way is to purchase some software to do the job, or you could explore Jailbreaking the phone.

However the easiest option is to recover the iTunes library from the previous computer - has it actually been thrown away?

Depends on whether the new computer is an apple mac or not I think as to how you go about it

I had the same problem and used software called i-rip. i paid for this software but i think you can get it free? I was then able to synch from my phone back to my new laptop and got back my entire iTunes collection. Good luck! :-)

Try Googling for iExplorer which will do this for you (or there are a couple of other programs by the same company, Macroplant, that have less functionality but may do enough).

They are paid-for apps, but a previous version I used was superb and the current one seems well-reviewed. If I recall correctly they had a trial period built-in, so you might be able to recover everything using that!

You can use CopyTransManager which is free to download and use.
