cold callers knocking at the door

Yesterday a group of teenagers knocked on the door going on about commuity stuff. I wasn't pleased as they interrupted my poker tourney. I only answered as we were expecting an important delivery. However there are often intruders knocking at the door. People who cannot read the name of the road, chuggers and idiots trying to foist insulation on us. Anyone have tips how to deter them?
We already have a notice saying we will not respond to cold callers of any type.

I live in a place with concierge and a lot of cold callers are unable to get in but some do come through the net and knock on the door in the evenings wanting to talk to you about their religion. I am not for one minute slating these people as they are very polite but they are inconsiderate because having been told no thanks politely they will still come back.

After several incidents of undesirables getting into the building, a lot of security measures have been beefed up and unwelcome strangers have stopped calling and I hope it stays that way. It isn't as though you can even ignore the door if you are busy because they will knock much louder for longer. Not good!

Chuggers in the street just get worse, if you tell them no thanks they have shouted after me a few times, to which I turn around and ask them to repeat what they said, it is all very unwanted and they should take no as meaning no. I give to plenty of charities in other ways than in the street.
