Leila Sail Boat Charitable Trust

Hi,

I am just gauging the water with this enquiry.

I am currently helping restore an old sailing boat called the Leila. She is a wooden gentleman's sail boat dating from the turn of the 19th/20th century and one of the oldest original sail boats on Lloyds shipping register.

At the moment the old girl is currently undergoing restoration work in Southwold with the end almost in sight. The proposal, when the work is complete, is to take disadvantaged children from Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth to sea sailing.

Now here is the rub.

To complete the work, the trust needs to raise in the region of £30,000. To contribute to the funds I was considering canoeing from C2C. Norwich City (Norfolk) to Lowestoft Coast (Suffolk) along the available Broad links and rivers. By road this is about 25 miles and by waterways, I conservatively guess in the region of 30 miles, given the twists and detours.

Would any individuals or companies consider supporting me in my quest?

More details on the trust can be found at www.leila2c.org/

Kind regards,

Tom R.
