Ipswich Car Parks

Went into Ipswich this afternoon, Charles Street car park was full, so went round to the underground car park to find it closed! Why on earth is this car park closed on the run up to Christmas??

If you don't mind abit of a walk into town, I usually use the 50p an hour car park on Handford Road. But don't go on football days as you have to pay £5.

Go to the Borough council website.  You'll see that the spiral car park is privately managed, and doesn't open at all on a Sunday.

Thanks Dave L, I didn't know that. That's just a fantastic business plan on the run up to Christmas. Just one more reason to shop elsewhere then.

Anyone coming into ipswich for christmas shopping must be mad ! Its bad enough the rest of the year but at christmas its a nightmare , especially late night shopping . Having worked in Ipswich town centre for 25 years the place is embarassing . I guarantee asnyone coming to ipswich over the next 6 weeks will only do it once. The Council is spending £25m on the road network in the town but has made no real provision that i can see for a vast improvement in parking , increase the flow into any car park eases visitors frustration. Look at the entrance to the Buttermarket centre car park , totally unthought out entrance which was not planned correctly when the building was designed. Then they decided to increase the amount of buses travelling past this point . Watch the fiasco that will be this christmas as every christmas for the last 15 years !

I just dont go into Ipswich anymore, much prefer Felixstowe or Woodbridge. Parking is a sensible price, even with petrol its cheaper than shopping in Ipswich,
