Didnt know one was. I dont think we need another one so close to the Card Factory nr W.H. Smiths (who btw offer some lovely cards @ very reasonable prices)! The one opposite in the old Radio Rentals shop didnt last long before they closed & of course Clinton Cards on the corner have sadly gone so, NO dont think it will pay, it is in a too close proximity.
It's probably taking advantage of the time of year and will have loads of Christmas cards, calendars etc. and won't stay open for long. I really miss Clintons. I never seem to find what I'm looking for in the Card Factory and although I like WH Smith, I really resent having to pay for a bag to put my card in (tight, I know but it's the principle). I always take shopping bags when I shop but paper items need a separate bag.
You may be right Viv, but they have done a fairly good shop fit there. Business rates being what they are, you'd have to sell a heck of a lot of cards to keep a shop going though . . . .
Hi Rosemary i think ur right the business rates are sky high there so u would have to make a vast turnover to succeed there permanently, temporary may be ok, but, really cannot seeing it paying but, good luck to them if they are prepared to take the challenge & risk!!
I totally agree about rates, my husband has just relocated his shop from church street to the parade, for better location but now have to pay rates. Hopfully our community will continue to support independently owned and run shops in our towns x
