Harleston Medical Practice - Repeat prescriptions changes Online - not notified to Patients

Harleston Medical Practice has changed the way that repeat prescriptions are ordered online. You CANNOT now just log in and obtain your prescriptions as you have been doing. You have to RE-REGISTER, on a website and with a procedure that you will not like much. This information has not been passed onto Patients who order online as a matter of course. It has apparently been passed to you if you visit the Doctors.

What you need to do.

First you have to get certain information about the Practice and you. This can be done by visiting the surgery and completing a form. They will send you the  information so you can go online to register on the new system. (If you are lucky you can get the information over the phone)

Once you have the following information you can go to the 'Order a repeat prescription' tile at the bottom of the Harleston Medical Practice website home page.

The information - Practice Identification Number
                              - Patient Identification
                              - Registration Token Number

Be aware these numbers are not short so have something bigger than a scrap of paper on which to write them.

Go to the order a repeat Prescription tile - click on it

You will go to another page where it will give you the options of signing in or registration, you need to register.

Click on Register you will get another window asking you to input the information.

Fill in your Practice ID number, your Patient ID number and your Registration token number (All case sensitive)

You will also need to choose and fill in a Username, and a password. You have to comply with conditions as to what characters you chose as it will not allow a free choice. Don't worry, if you get it wrong it will tell you and tell you what is allowed.

Once you have done all that and pressed the button to register it will send an e-mail to the e-mail address you have at the Doctors. (If you are lucky. Some people are not receiving the e-mail)
Once you have received the e-mail sent by the system you can copy the code given therein to the window which has opened on the registration page and submit it, and with luck you are now registered with the system (Almost)

Before it lets you in you will need to chose a security question from the three choices given, and an answer and you are now registered.

(Some people are not receiving the e-mail with the code to allow completion of registration. No code, no registration. It appears to be something to do with a glitch in the system. If you get hit by it, go back to the surgery and keep complaining till the problem is sorted, otherwise you cannot get repeat prescriptions on Number 1

Once you actually start to try to do the repeat prescription it will tell you  there is no history of your prescriptions, but if you start a new one, it should list all your previously ordered medication. (Do check though)

I told you that you would not like it much but if you follow the above you will soon be able to get your repeat prescriptions as before. Once registered, the new login is Practice ID, Username, and password. Not too bad, shame they couldn't make registration a bit simpler.

If you have any friends who are with the Harleston Medical practice who order repeat prescriptions online, tell them about the changes and registration procedure, it will save them a lot of grief.

Good grief, what a palaver! Not a word of this mentioned at the recent PPG meeting last week! Perhaps not surprising as the practice manager is leaving in the New Year and poor responses to recruitment for new GP and practice nurse mean we are still suffering a poorly resourced practice. Shame as it used to be so good when Peter & Helen ran the show.

Barry - helpful, but you dont seem to mention that you first seem to need a registration letter - which gives practice ID, patient ID and registration token number - and without which you cannot proceed...

I have now visited the surgery and got a registration letter which gives require info - then your systematic advice seems applicable. Its all because they are now linked into a UK wide system - the bigger the more difficult it seems

I found this a total nuisance when I tried to get my repeat prescription.  I went to order it online on Tuesday to collect  thursday when I ran out, only to find that I couldnt do it and I would have run out if it hadn't been for my lovely husband who ran up there before they closed to drop my prescription in.  Bad management on their part.
