Please contact Social Services! There should be an organisation called Waveney Women`s Aid, but I cannot post contact details for obvious reasons.

She frightened of social services she doesnt want her and child and one on way on a at risk register and taken away, be looked at as a bad parent. She really is a good mother whom found herself trapped and abused and she been made to feel all her fault He has drummed into her as she has no support money home etc that they will give them to him and because understandibly she been depressed she wont have a leg to stand on.

Good luck to your friend.  As somebody who got out of an abusive relationship I can understand her fears (I too thought that the situation was my own doing, that nobody would believe me, that I had no support etc, but I found that I had a lot more support than my ex had brainwashed me into believing), but she ought to be believed - afterall I thought that with the new legislation covering the mental (and more damaging, longer lasting) abuse, social services ought to be non judgemental towards the victim.

Be strong and supportive to your friend, if the powers that be can see this support, the daft ideas that have been put into her head by a mind-controlling person will come to nothing and I hope she will be able to live a settled life without fear of abuse taking place again.  (I'm not going to say that this will be easy, but with the right support it is possible - I'm living, breathing proof that happy outcomes can be reached)

Waveney Council will also be surprisingly helpful as well..and i am not joking..

They got all the contacts, if approached and asked...and i think they got a person who just deals with this kind of thing. (well they used to..maybe they still have, after all the cutbacks)

Take a look at both the refuge site http://refuge.org.uk/ and womens aid http://www.womensaid.org.uk/, both charities, both got advice and are nationally recognised specialists in this area.

Also please support and share the video clip on the refuge site, it's part of Avon's Support a Friend campaign...the more awareness of the scale of the problem, the less taboo the subject will become - hopefully more people will seek help at an earlier stage, thus preventing a whole host of other long-lasting problems.

Also can wider society stop judging people who are single parents?  Stop and think for a while - did that person take a tough decision for their safety and that of their children?

Also you could try the citizens advice bureau on Gordon Rd or telephone them. But the council will help and they are not social services that is Suffolk County who runs that.

The Waveney woman's aid is now being run by Orwell housing who support the situation and gives safe havens. This was taken over last year when WWA dissolved due internal problems.
Malcolm is quite correct in via the CAB and dispite DBs unnecessary comment the Councils Customer Services 01502 562111 will be very helpful and put you in touch with the right people. There are also other organisations that can help you in this situation and will assist you with any paper work for claims, benefits and legal procedures.
I wish you well

I suggest you contact any councillor (but preferably a woman) and the should know who can help. I know there was a women's refuge in Lowestoft and I think we still have it but women there come from other areas and Lowestoft women would be sent to another town in order that their ex-partner doesn't know where to find them. Good luck!

womans health in lowestoft bevan street are really good pitty onthis is avalable for men who also are victoms !

Yes, people assume it's always male violence against women. Whilst that is the majority of cases, men can be victims of domestic abuse too. Also same-sex relationships can be abusive as well.  The only way the statutory authorities and voluntary sector, charities etc. can be made aware of the need is if it is reported.
Debs S
the thing is men dont report it now do they as they feel shamful
