Old Sidmouth

Like BJ I collect old postcards of Sidmouth, eventually I hope to scan them and put them online, but that is well in the future. I think that the more we know of the past the better we can consider the future.

Hmmm, we may have been bidding against each other!

sorry but I really wanted this one. As you may know we have the business now known as Grosevenor Tea Room. The old signage depicted was inspiration for our new signage, thanks to John at Sign Vision.

BJ Love your signage, it looks so authentically original when I first saw it I remember doing a double take and I wondered if it was the old sign restored.
BJ
Thanks Robin. We were delighted to find almost intact the orignal black glass. Maybe it is also under the Julian Graves sign but whatever - this will be covered up by the new Air Ambulance sign. The signwriter said it was very special and not many places still have the old glass.
I shall try to monitor the changes next door and record if the old signage is exposed.
BTW when the old sign was removed from our place the Flower shop sign was underneath but it was made of hardboard and could not be removed in one piece but we took a photo before it came down.

No BJ, I would only have had it to make sure someone knew what things used to look like. I am very happy to know you have it.

I commend your attitude to returning things to their 'original' appearance.

Well done. The museum has some wonderful pics of this stretch including your tea room much further back in time.
