First Christmas in Islington - suggestions please!

Hiya, we've just moved to the area and will be having Christmas in our new flat amidst ongoing damp proofing renovations. I'm trying to think of ways to make it as magical as possible. My eight year old will be the only child, poor thing, and both sets of parents (who have never met!) will be coming. Help! Suggestions on what to do in Islington at Christmas please.

Do you mean specifically on Christmas Day itself, or just over the Christmas period?

I was going to recommend Freightliner's Farm, but sadly found out that they are closed during xmas week. :(

I think it is a delightful place for a child to visit. http://www.freightlinersfarm.org.uk/index.htm

There's a house all lit up on mackenzie Rd and there's a Santa's grotto too. Ok for a trip pre Christmas?
