Merry Christmas and a happy new year. A positive challenge

A merry christmas and a happy new year to you all. I would like to say that Oulton Broad and Lowestoft is a fantastic place to live. The local amenities, radio, newspaper, council, police etc etc. may not be this best in the world but they are still alot better than most seaside towns and all these things together make a great place to live. Ive watched the comments go up on streetlife putting the town, villages and other institutions, etc down. My challenge to you for 2013 is to comment on this thread in a positive way. My contribution is that I am married to a fantastic woman, ive started my own buisness in 2012 and will be continuing in 2013. Now you can spoil this by knocking this thread or you can think about it and write something positive about yourself, family, friends, work or local thing. Go on write something positive it will do you good.   A merry christmas and happy new year to you all. Peter

I love this, Peter...I'm a big fan of noticing the positive things in life! 2012 has not been the easiest of years for me...but there is still sooooooo much to be grateful for - I have a wonderful family, my business is going really well, I have wonderful friends and am lucky to be able to spend so much time with them, I have organised two events this year that have raised lots of money for the Alzheimer's Society, I have taken part in an international research study to help to find a cure for Alzheimer's which will turn into a drugs trial in 2013, I have discovered strength that I did not know that I had!

Merry Christmas everyone! X

We moved to Lowestoft from London in June this year, myself, daughter and grandchildren, and we cannot believe how much better our life is here. All of us absolutely love it. It was a huge leap for us and we weren't sure how it was going to turn out, people back in London were shocked at us doing it, but so far it's been the best thing ever. We all love the place, the people and the whole atmosphere. A big thank you to all the people in Lowestoft for making us so welcome and a Happy Christmas and very Happy New Year to all of you xxx

I have lived in Lowestoft since 1967, coming here with my parents, so I have been to school here, worked here, married and had children here and seen my grandchildren born here. I am lucky in that both my children live in the area within 3 or 4 miles of me. I have been to other places on holiday or to visit friends and I think we are so lucky here. Unfortunately the crime rate has increased, but that is a sign of the times, not just Lowestoft and it is still much lower than in most parts of the country. We have a lovely beach to use all year round - love walking n the beach on a sunny snowy winter day. We have the beautiful broads nearby, and the pace of lif generally is nice and slow, no motorways and busy trunk roads criss-crossing the area. And if you want night life and the hustle & bustle of a city then Norwich isn't far off and easily accessible by road or train. I can't imagine living anywhere else, and am quite happy to retire here when the time comes.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all.
