Bloor Homes - South Seafront

So - anyone willing to buy one of Bloor's delightful "vertical apartments", now they're putting the roof on the first block?

I have to be honest, I'd be very dubious about splashing out £300,000 on a property built by a company that can't even put up a fence straight.  Or one that hasn't figured out that fences and flagpoles aren't going to survive the first storm of the winter.

Buyer beware.

I had a look down there last week I have to say I'm unimpressed by what u get for the money
Someone put link on for plans a fee weeks ago and too me they have tried to squash too many rooms into.

I guess good land being used but no I wouldn't buy.

They should have put Tesco there ;) bring a knew meaning to shopping by the sea...lol

Actually, that's a pretty good idea.  The town could have done with the parking spaces - and some retail space would have regenerated the area.  You only have to look at Lidl's car park to see how people need to shop in that area.

Here's a link to the floor plans of the most expensive house.

Hmm, three bedrooms and FOUR toilets?  And if you notice, NONE of the bedrooms seem to have enough space for wardrobes.  And a "family room" that't only 10x8?  OK, it's £259,000, not £300,000.  Still £100,000 over the ceiling price of larger houses in the area.

I live near there and I would not in a million years trust a modern, put 'em up quick house practically on the beach considering the weather we get here and I would be constantly worried about a flood. I wonder if the home owners could even get flood insurance, I don't think they can.

They are horrible, ugly houses not in keeping with the rest of the properties in that area and I feel so sorry for the people in the lovely Victorian houses behind them that have had their sea views ruined, no wonder so many of them went up for sale a few months before those houses were built.

We need more shops and parking down this end, we are the forgotten end of Felixstowe, there isn't even a free cash point down here!

Rumour amongst the locals is that the ground sinking around new homes.? I'm told bloors are just going through insurance for money lost.all this very likely not true but this is what I was told.lets wait and see

I happen to live on one of the beautiful Victorian houses that are going to disappear behind a wall of relentless red brick.  I totally agree with you SoR.  We needs shops and car parking spaces, not .characterless boxes for fat-cat landlords

I can't actually go out anywhere in my car at the weekend in the summer and school hols because as soon as I do a tourist jumps in my parking space and when i come home not only can I not park outside my own house, I can't park in my own road or the next 4 roads either side and with a car full of shopping or children and dog it's a nightmare. That ground could have been used for parking.

I'm also sick of having to go all the way into town to get any money out, why we can't have a little parade of shops down this end is beyond me, thank God for Lidl but even that doesn't do everything.
Marc T
I totally hear you SoR.  The parking issue is the same here - Bloor effectively took 450 car parking spaces out of the area and replaced them with ... nothing.  Doreen Savage claims that a new Pay-And-Display for 100 cars will resolve the problem, but that isn't likely to be ready until 2014.  It's a quarter of the size needed, it isn't free, and it's two years too late.  Nice one, eh?

As you say, this whole area of town seems to have been forgotten by everyone else.  And yet, it's the friendliest, most community-spirited part!   What would have been the problem with a small parade of shops and maybe a small supermarket?  At least all the (imaginary) occupants of the new development would have had somewhere to shop without needing to get the car out.

Ah well.  I shall see how the whole thing pans out - where I live is incredibly convenient for work, so I may decide to put up with a block of flats (ahem, I mean "executive dwellings") outside my front door.  Or maybe my wife will decide otherwise.

have any of you read the garbage that Bloors write about Felixstowe? I just fell off my seat.  Apparently Felixstowe is named after the Port.  We apparently still have a boating lake and the Spa Pavilion. and we are across the estuary of the Orwell.  I have copied it below here for your amusement:-

"The Felixstowe development consists of new homes including 2 & 3 bedroom homes and is situated in the vibrant seaside town of Felixstowe and is very close to the seafront where there is a Pier, restaurants, cafes and much more.

This development joins our other developments in the region of East Anglia which includes Blenheim Gate in Clacton-On-Sea, Blackstock Grange in Campsea Ashe and Sorrel Meadow in Hollesley.

Felixstowe is named after the Port of Felixstowe which is the UK's largest container port. The town is located across the estuary of the River Orwell.

Felixstowe is a popular resort that has a lot to offer. It includes a promenade and more than a 4 mile stretch of a golden coastline. There is also an array of attractions which includes everything from a boating lake to the Spa Pavillion Theatre and Felixstowe museum.

As well as being a popular seaside town, Felixstowe also boasts many leisure activities. There is a leisure centre situated near the Pier and the town is home to various sports clubs including a tennis, football and hockey club. There is also good transport links with surrounding areas such as Ipswich"

..and their 'Local Information' page is totally laughable.  Please do go and look at it and click on the various links.  Stoke High School gets lieted as a local library (for instance)

None of this does anythin g to sell Felixstowe.  It is badly put together and glaringly inaccurate.  Their marketing team should be sacked.

"4 mile stretch of a golden coastline" ???

:-)
Marc T
I quite like being "across the estuary".  It makes it much easier to get into Harwich.

On another note, I see that Bloor are about to pick the subcontractors to build the £2 million "leisure park" alongside their new development.  I can't see how anyone could spend £2 million laying some turf and digging a pond.  Maybe I should apply for the job?
And as for building "picnic and associated leisure sites" within 10 metres of a beach...  do these people actually live on planet Earth, or are they just complete numbskulls who work out different ways to needlessly waste money?

Bloor, there will be two themes for the park area one to do with air ship, the other ships.its suppose to be for children I hope when it's done it doesn't get smashed up.
Marc T
"For children"?

Hey kids, let's go to the seaside and instead of playing in the sand and the sea, you can look at a pond that's supposed to be a ship.  Hmmm.  Can't see that one ending well, can you?
