These sorts of records are good for countering suggestions that weather is becoming 'more extreme'  - weather has always been changeable, the 1950s-2000s were surprisingly unchangeable compared with other times in history, which has led many to believe things are suddenly getting worse, when it's really just a return to the norm.

As someone who lives above Bishop's Hill, I'm not scared of flooding - if my house is flooded, Ipswich is under 100 feet of water!
