Well, most men relieve themselves round the corner of churches and other buildings -the last instances I witnessed were in the corner of the old Post Office, just beside the letter box, and at the gate of the International School. Sometimes I feel like carrying a camera with me just to catch those filthy individuals.
Maybe 'they' consider that the toilets aren't used enough so why bother keeping them open?
I must add - to bring a semblance of balance and fact, not hearsay, to this thread that women are capable of a respectable gusher in the street now and again.
I have often witnessed females squatting and pee-ing in Church Street on a Saturday night - some of them so drunk that they lose their balance and fall over into what they have just produced.
I've wondered whether keeping the Market Place toilets open at night on Saturday would solve this problem.
The thing is I don't think anybody wants to relieve themselves behind the back of the toilet, I feel very sorry for the gentleman who did - it must be very embarrassing for him.
I suppose there are situations when "needs must" SS ................ I'm wondering whether the gentleman you refer to had tried to gain access to the toilet but found it closed. There will be a good number of elderly gentlemen in this town that suffer from prostate problems and to generalise and call them 'filthy individuals' like a previous poster is downright ignorant and shameful ...... prostate sufferers would find that post and those views very offensive indeed.
I agree with you - with a mature population and many having prostrate problems - E.D.D.C. want to take that on board. I heard he went to use the toilet and found it locked. With the toilets on the front closed (coach drop off point) these are the nearest and they are closed. Madness! I was told he was upset.
It is also by the bus station - if somebody has had a long journey........
TIAII I think it was BB who was stating that there is a problem with men and women urinating where they shouldn't and claiming it was a filthy habit so Anne is not alone in her belief.
I also think that it is a lot easier for men to relieve themselves in a fairly inconspicuous way, ie not likely to get arrested for obscene behaviour, than it is for women and that is why the majority of urine soaked areas are produced by men.
By your postings I presume you are male and therefore don't appreciate the many dangers women risk when there isn't a loo available and you just have to go. Filling your shoes is probably the least of them!
Indeed I did PL - but I have been referring, in other threads, to the pimply faced scrotes that cannot hold their liquor on a Saturday night whilst they loiter outside of Carinas because they are not old enough to get in and are unable to control their bodily functions.
There is a world of difference between them and the many elderly men that suffer from an enlarged prostate gland - surely you can see that - yes?
And old ladies with stress incontinence, cystitis, etc. Although of course you don't need to be an 'old' woman as childbirth often causes problems with incontinence and cystitis can strike at any age.
It is not only men who suffer from having the urge to go NOW.
Perhaps men with prostate problems need to wear Tena Lady too :-)
Ooooh you must not presume Pining Lass ............ just check my profile ......... you are so obviously wrong when you infer that I don't appreciate the 'many dangers women risk when there isn't a loo available' .............. hence my first post in this thread.
My apologies TIAII I had not checked your profile, as I said I was going by your posts. Also of course profiles mean nothing as you can choose to put what you like when you sign up :-)
Your first post was 'Have they not taken into consideration the average age of residents
hereabouts ............ surely there is no need to cause this much
discomfort?
' Which does not tell me that you have considered anything but age.
Some men experience great urgency in needing a loo because of problems with their prostate. Members of the Sidmouth group of NEDPSA (North and East Devon Prostate Support Association), know how to get round locked up loos. The trick is to carry a RADAR key obtainable from the TIC Sidmouth. Often when all other toilets are closed you can gain access to the disabled toilets and get relief.
The scaffolding is down .............. are the toilets open yet or have we to wait for a ribbon cutting ceremony by a member of the council? On the same subject ........... is the toilet next to the Arches on the front available during winter months? Saw several people trying the door more than once ............ and it was locked.

That's a very sweeping and inaccurate statement ............ care to back it up with evidence?

Thanks for your post. Many men suffer from prostrate problems and would be unaware of your support group. SS
