Well, now you've had your rant perhaps you could calmly tell us all what exactly is the problem.

I drove along most of Bassenhally at 8am - no difficulty - what are you referring to Phil?

Surely peeps have seen the chaos outside alderman jacobs school. Not of course in holiday times. Endless 4x4's and it goes right round the corner making a 2 lane road into a 1 lane. 20mph signs are up......chance would be a fine thing.

I should have said drybread road, my mistake. These ignoramuses park badly, including on corners and all down  swan road, once severely obstructing an ambulance on an emergency call collecting a sick elderly bod. It had to double park as there was no room outside the house.

If I had my way I'd double yellow line it and ticket every day til these social misfits got the message

A quote from the web site:

Just as PCSOs are not the same as police officers, they are not the same as special constables, traffic wardens or local authority wardens. They are a unique role designed purely to tackle local anti-social behaviour and issues affecting the quality of life. Police Forces continue to support special constables who have the same powers as police officers. While PCSOs will be providing a visible and regular patrol, unlike neighbourhood wardens, they are employed by the police and have some powers provided by an Act of Parliament to allow them to directly tackle some anti-social behaviour issues.

Would that sort it out?

I totally agree with Phil, its an absolute nightmare with all them parents parking everywhere, they dont care much for the people who live on the street or off a side road either ! I also think double yellow lines should be both sides of the road all the way past the school. That might make more of them walk or car share ! if this was london, they would all be nicked for parking within 20yrds of the entrance to the school !

I just ant to make the point that PCSO often visit Drybread Oadnd issue tickets to try and deal with the problem outside AJS.  But, truth be told, the only way this is ever going to be dealt with is for parents to try and find alternatives to dropping their children off by car.  This isue is raised regularly at theTown Council in our meetings with the police and at the police priority setting meetings.

It’s a pain; they park all the way down Drybread road from the straw bear pub, so once you have managed to pass that lot driving down Drybread road towards the school you then have to pass them on a sharp left hand bend all the way up to the sharp right hand bend into Bassenhally road. I've never seen a police officer there during drop off or collection. Not sure how to solve the problem but I have to make a detour just to get home.

There is also a problem with cars parked on the opposite side to the school near Coronation junction, so if you are driving towards the pub - you have to drive on the wrong side of the road - then a car pulls out of Coronation turning left towards the school - and the drivers just look at each other (the polite version). Martin is correct about the education/support of parents - may be pressure from children to walk or cycle may help parents make the right decision - there does not seem to be the same problem at SHSCC where a higher proportion of students walk or cycle.

Surely this kind of obstruction must be illegal, why isn't someone nicking them?......every day. Around the side of Alderman Jacobs is a joke. This is now reduced to a single lane. My opinion.......get the tow trucks out.

What will eventually  happen is some one who is not from Whittlesey and not living in a world of "oh well that's life", will get out of their car an punch some one about a bit and then the police will come. Do we really have to wait for that.
