Sandy Bowls

I have not bowled for a lot of years but used to bowl league before my wife and I moved back to Exmouth.  However we do both still have our own bowls and shoes so was delighted to see the opportunity to use them locally. The first time was good, but on the second occasion my bowl came out of the machinery with sand all over it and deeply scratched. Previously it was pristine. 

I have today spoken to the person on duty and he confirmed they are having lots of trouble with sand, especially at weekends. Quite a difficult problem but I suppose it comes from building a bowling alley opposite the beach.

Not sure what they are going to be able to do about this.

I had my first bowling experience yesterday for about 30 years and thoroughly enjoyed it. We were going to have lunch there and the food looked but good, but it was very noisy so we went to Posh Nosh instead which was very nice. All in all I think the bowling alley is good.

I agree about the noise in the cafe. When we went there just for a cuppa, no-one was bowling but the music from the bowling area was very loud. It would be good if they could instal some noise-reduction "baffles" in the cafe if the ground floor remains open-plan.

the main problem with th e bowling centre is that ist not finished and that spoils the whole thing that and the fact that what has been done hasn't been done properly.   will the upper floors ever open?????

Just think; in China they can put up a 10 storey block in around a month & "we" seem unable to erect a 3 (?) storey building in as many years. Something wrong here surely?

Andrea - if you can prove that the bowl was pristine before and scratched after it came out of the machinery, tell them that you want a replacement and threaten them with the Small Claims Court if the try to brush you off.  They've got insurance for these sort of events.

i have been bowling for a long long time i don't think a few scratches will matter a lot not worth claiming for, best of luck i hope you enjoy the game tom m
