I have noticed the last few times that the brown bin is emptied the men are putting it in the same truck,it used to be collected by another truck, so does that mean it all gets mixed together?
when it was seperate in orange bags they often chucked it in with the rubbish and the answer was they seperated it at the depot, I never believed that.
I don't believe that either, also don't see the point in washing out glass bottles and jars when it goes in with food scrap rubbish anyway. Also does anyone know when the green bins start to be collected again as I can't see a new date on the council site.
I heard someone else say that too - that brown bin was empied at the same time as grey - but ours is always collected at different times - grey in the morning and brown in the evening!
We never wash out bottles and jars - as you say what is the point - it is separated and washed at the tip!
Green Bin - no idea. I looked on the council website the other day and it doesnt say when they resume collections! At least they are resuming them and not scrapping the green bins to save costs!
I always wash out the glass jars and the tins because I thought you could get fined if you did not and the "corned beef"inspector caught you ? my kids take the mickey out of me because I put the milk bottles in the dishwasher before I leave them out for the milkman.
some of it used to be sent abroad there was a photo in a national newspaper of a reporter holding up a opened letter addressed to a woman in Hornchurch, they traced her and she yes she had thrown it out in her rubbish ! I think it became too costly to send it overseas.
I had to phone the council recently and I asked why both the brown and black bins were emptied into the same truck and was told that is not should be happening, but it has on the last two times that the brown bin was being emptied, I am going to see if happens next time. If it does then what is the point taking the time to separate it!!
Yeah - that Hornchurch letter story was 2007. I remember it as it happened the year we moved to Barking.
They are def not emptying our bins together. Our grey bin was empited at 6.30 this morning - and they usually come back and empty brown bin around 5pm.
We need the brown bin for paper, tins, plastics etc - without that we would run out of room in our grey bin every week!
Maybe they did not want to come back and empty the brown bins?? Our bins are never emptied the same time each week, sometimes it is 8.30am sometimes it is 7pm.

I only know this because I asked for a collection and was told when they're starting; I'm on Round 2 - I live on Thames View.
go to the council web site it will tell you which round you will be on.
And wasnt that supposed scam about 6 or 7 years ago?
