Hi Priscilla Sweaty Betty, think that is what it is called, may still run a club every Tuesday evening at 6.00. You meet at their shop in Northcote Road and run on Wands Common.

I haven't used it because I only do about 2 miles slowly on TB Common and EVERYBODY is faster than me! Lol.

Good luck with the 10k awesome! P

why don't you join BRITISH MILITARY FITNESS for all round exercise,www.britmilfit.com they also do a running club on Tooting Common as well as Clapham, and Wandsworth,

thanks ladies for your comments. The british military fitness looks scary though :)

Hi, I'd also be interested in a running club. I Think military fitness charge for the running group. If enough people are interested maybe we could form a group? I'm running about 5 k at the moment but interested in running further.

Priscilla D

Sounds good Pete, maybe we could get a few more people on board. Even if we just got a good run in at the weekend.

Yes BMF do charge check their website, but its cheaper than gym, safer running in a pack (!)and its all levels and its outside!

Hi. I've been doing British military fitness (BMF) for 5 years. It's excellent - not scary at all. The running club hasn't happened for a bit, I'll find out if it's going to happen again or if it's been axed. They do charge, but its cheaper than the gym and well worth it. BMF has quite a good social aspect too which undoes all the hard work!

Hi, that would be great if you could ask about the running. Just bumped into a neighbour of mine running on the common, who would also be interested. So seems like there might be quite a few of us out there!!

I'd definitely be up for meeting in a group and doing a run. Need to get fit again - just moved to the area and sitting at a desk all day!

CarolineJ

I'd be interested in a beginner's running group - emphasis on beginner!!

Priscilla D

wow everyone this is great...... ok well i will leave this note on until next Wednesday and if everyone is ok with it then maybe we can head out for our first run on Saturday morning. What do you think?

Amy

I'd be up for running together too! I used to live in Wimbledon and there's a great running club there - the Wimbledon Windmilers - but I can't make it there in time in the evenings any more, by the time I've got home and in the car etc. So, I've been slogging round and round the block here by myself since I moved... and the motivation to do that's already dwindling with the darker (and colder!) mornings and evenings setting in...

Hi everyone, if any of you are interested in walking as exercise, I recently read about "Walk 4 Life" on Tooting Bec Common, which takes place several times a week. It's run for free by the NHS & council (to get people fitter) & may be a useful starter for people who need to build up their fitness before running (I'm starting next week). You can find out more at http://www.wandsworth.gov.uk/walk4life - they also cover other areas too. cheers

Next sat - as in 30th is good for me too. Shall we say 10am?

Priscilla D

Ok everyone, if you are up for it how about we all get together next Saturday 30th October at 10am on Tooting Bec Common (outside the Cafe) and we will go for a 5K run. How's that? I'll put another post on the site that just confirms the run for anyone else that is interested. By the way I'm doing 5K in about 35 mins so if you're faster than that we may have to bunch up into groups. Looking forward to seeing you all then. Can you respond to the new post i put up so I know how many we can expect.... god i'm all nervous about this. Seems like I've organised my first running group :)

Hi. I'm interested in joining the running group but BMF (British Military Fitness) takes place at 10am on Saturday mornings so I can't make it this time. I'd be interested in future.

Amy

10am on 30th sounds good to me! Which cafe are you talking about though? Can you be a bit more specific? I'll look for your new post and respond to that too.... Amy x

Hi everyone,

Please add the new Tooting Bec Common Runners group to your favourites by clicking join group at the top right of the page.

It'll help other local runners discover your group, and make it easy for you to keep in touch, arrange and hear about runs.

Have a good one tomorrow - looks like the sun's coming out for you.

Nina
