Save our parcel service!

Highgate Neighbourhood Forum in Archway
Below is a letter from Lynne Featherstone MP for Hornsey and Wood Green regarding proposed changes by Royal Mail to the parcel collection service for Highgate residents.

Please sign the petition if you support this campaign.

Dear Michael,

I'm writing to let you know about some shocking proposed changes to the parcel collection service in our local area. Royal Mail is reorganising – and we Highgate residents stand to lose out.

At the moment, we go to the Archway Road Post Office to pick up our undelivered parcels. However, under Royal Mail’s proposed changes, this collection service may be lost – meaning we would have to travel all the way to an industrial estate near Tufnell Park, or alternatively pay a £1.50 charge per item to pick up our undelivered parcels and post from the Post Office - a service which is currently provided for free.

When I heard about the changes, I called an urgent meeting with Royal Mail. Your ward Councillor Rachel Allison and I argued strongly for the free collection at Archway Road to stay. As a result, Royal Mail is now thinking twice.

Rachel and I will continue to fight hard for this free collection service - but we really need your help. We need to show Royal Mail how strong public opinion is.

That's why the Haringey Liberal Democrats and I have launched a petition against the planned changes. If you support the campaign to keep collection services local, please do sign our petition - you can do so here: <>

I will of course keep you up to date with this campaign. In the meantime, please do let me know if you would like my assistance with anything.

Best regards,

Lynne Featherstone
Liberal Democrat MP for Hornsey and Wood Green
