The Knowle and Pegasus

Mary W-T in Salcombe Regis
I have just seen on the Herald website that today EDDC have agreed to abide by the Information Commissioner's ruling and release information, which is excellent.

However, I was surprised by this quote

“Furthermore, we can confirm that there has been no cost to us – or East Devon taxpayers – for undertaking this appeals process.
Each of the parties to the appeal agreed to bear their own costs and our costs were all internal.”

Does EDDC not understand that paying people to challenge rulings when they could usefully be doing something else is a 'cost' to the taxpayers?
