The move from primary school to senior school is a big step for most children. Yet there is an alternative to the large institutions of the maintained sector.

For almost seventy five years, Hethersett Old Hall School has offered girls a real alternative – a superbly-equipped school on a smaller scale, where they get the individual attention they need to succeed.

Set in beautiful grounds, with historic buildings alongside purpose-built facilities, the school offers all the benefits of a traditional independent school education combined with a modern, international outlook.

Excellent examination results and a full programme of extra-curricular activities ensure academic success - and pupils’ personal development, described by a recent inspection as ‘outstanding’.

We offer girls in Year 6 the opportunity to experience a typical day at our school when they can meet current pupils, experience science in the labs, use the sporting facilities (including the heated indoor pool) and enjoy our excellent facilities for other subjects.

Parents are invited to tour the school and take refreshments with the Headmaster in his study at 3.00pm.

Of course there is an outdated stereotype that private schools are exclusive and only for the children of the rich. Nothing could be further from the truth. Independent school parents come from all walks of life; they are united by a desire to invest in the best education possible for their families.

At HOHS awards called ‘scholarships’ and ‘exhibitions’ are offered for pupils who show academic promise. These are competitive awards that cover some of the costs of attending the school. Also on offer are a limited number of bursaries – means-tested financial awards to cover some of the costs of an education at the school.
