Book club

Would anyone be interested in setting a book club up in the clapham junction area? If so I might have a word with Waterstones or the library and see if something could be organised with them.

Let me know if there's any interest out there!

That's a great idea and I would like to join a book club. Could only do evenings after 7pm.

Hi Elie/Jo,

We currently sponsor a wonderful local bookclub that meet in the Wandsworth, Earlsfield, Tooting and Clapham area.

The lady's name is Christina.

Happy Reading! :-)

Thank you Christina, I can't do Tuesday nights unfortunately and would prefer somewhere a little closer to home.  Jo I agree, how about something on a Monday or Wednesday at 19:30?

Ellie B

Just emailed Wandsworth library and they shut at 8pm so a once a month (to give us time to read the book!) from 7pm-8pm on a Monday/Wednesday may be feasible.  I'll let you know!

Jo

Thanks Aqua Amore. Apparently there a several bookclubs already incl. one in Earlsfield where I am. Have emailed them for more info and will post when I hear back.

Hi Ellie, I would be very interested in joining a book club that meets around the Junction so let me know what you're planning. Cheers. V.

I would interested in a book club around clapham junction too.  we did have one a few years ago but it moved to clapham north and then fizzled out.  faz

Ellie B

I rang Northcote library about their adult book session on the second Monday of each month.  They took my number but nobody has got back to me.  I think if we can get a few of us - we could just meet in a coffee shop or alike, as Wandsworth library would charge for us to use their facilities and the room they are proposing is currently in need of refurbishment.

Hi yes I would be interested.

Susan J

I go to the book club at Battersea library the first Friday of each month 12-1pm. I  would be interested if another group starts up as well but am not able to do evenings as I work till late.

Sara R

I would also be interested in joining a book club if there was one near or at Wandsworth Library

Ellie B

Well for ease of meeting straight from work and convenience Costa in Clapham Junction seems a good location.  It's open until 21:00 so why don't we all meet in the first instance and each suggest a book for the upcoming months.  Can everyone make Monday 21st November at say 19:30?

Sara R

Yes I can make that

farzana h

yep i can be there. thanks

Jo

Yes I can make that. Where is the Costa Coffee?

Ellie B

In Clapham Junction station.

vicky m

Hi Ellie, sorry but I'm not going to be able to make that evening - if you can let me know when the next one is and where I'll definitely come. Cheers. Vicky

Hi as would need to get a babysitter and already out Tuesday and Weds next week not possible for me but would like to be kept in the loop. Thanks Karen

Ben B

Hey, Im interested too. Isnt the Costa at the station a little small? The one on St Johns road is bigger, and only a 2min walk from the station so is just as easy.

Ellie B

Hi Ben,

thanks for letting me know - is the other Costa open until 9pm? That was the attraction of Clapham Junction as we don't want to feel pressured to leave by staff understandably wanting to go home!

Ben B

Ill have a look tomorrow morning and get back to you.

HCK

Hi Everyone - I could do Monday.

Clpaham Common Library do a book club every month.  I have been a couple of times - nice group & they usually go to the pub afterwards!  They also organise local authors to come in and they have a Christmas party. :-)

Oh and they give us a copy of a Book magazine every couple of months which gives you the details of how to get free books! :-)

If you do organise a book club you can advertise on bookgroup.info - they also do free books for reading groups and have authors wanting to host an event!

Ellie B

Sounds great- when is their next meeting? And do they have space for new members?
